When connecting Windows Live Writer use select MetaBlogApi and the following link href="http://{domain}/{memberName}/services/MetaBlogAPI.aspx
If you have difficulties uploading images ensure that your IIS account has Full Permissions under the images directory
When I moved my blog from http://{domain}.com/ to http://blog.{domain}.com I was required to update the Host field in the sql table subtext_config. Once I updated the field all things worked just fine.
